Art at Shirley's'

Every six months Shirley's Shoes run an ART COMPETITION, which is open to everyone of all ages. The winners of that art competition are featured on each page of our mail/ phone order catalogue. The intention of the art competition is to add an extra element of colour, excitement and interest to our catalogue.

Through our art competition we give away up to $6,000 in prizes each year. The prize for each page winner is a $100 gift voucher from Shirley's Shoes. The two cover prize winners each receive $500 in cash. In addition we also give out "Highly Commended" prizes of $200 vouchers. The winning artworks are photographed and returned to the artists.

What's required?

As many children and teenagers like to enter this competition we keep the rules very simple. The entries can be of any style, size and shape, our only requirements are that the artwork be an original and the content be suitable for inclusion in our footwear catalogue. Please note that colour photocopies of the original artwork will not be judged.

Who can enter?

There is a minimum age of 10 years to be able to enter due to the fact we do not stock shoes suitable for persons younger than 10 years old. We have had problems in the past with young prize winners using their $100 voucher.

2 cover prizes of $500 each
Shirley's Shoes cover - $500
Nextshoes cover - $500

What categories or groups

We have also decided to introduce different categories in which you can enter the art competition. This will give new artists, or those who haven’t won a prize in our competition an increase chance of being successful. There are now five separate groups so artists are only competing with their peers.

Students - ages 10 - 18 years
Hobby Artist - who have never sold art
Hobby Artist - who have sold art
Semi or Professional Artist
